Research Interests
My research is on the development and application of novel mathematical, systems modelling and statistical methods for the study of animal health and welfare, using large-scale epidemiological experiments, data synthesis from existing literature and public data sources.  I use multi-scalar approaches to understand a problem from both top-down and bottom-up perspectives; through my individual-based research, I have developed a novel line of enquiry into factors that lead to important and significant differences between individuals which result in differential risk of exposure to, or subsequent development of, a health problem.

I am Academic Director of the Smart Agri-Systems initiative at the University of Leeds.  You can read more about Smart Agri-Systems here.
