PIgsustain has started! The 1st February is an important day in history for many reasons…
In 1992 George W Bush proclaimed an end to the Cold War. In 1984 the half penny coin ceased to be legal tender. In 1968 Elvis Presley became a Dad to Lisa Marie Presley. But most importantly… The 1st February 2017 marks the beginning of our very exciting project “PigSustain: Predicting the Impacts of Intensification and Future Changes on UK Pig Industry Resilience”. A great deal of work and commitment has been invested into bringing this project to fruition, and in the process of doing so we have built a brilliant multidisciplinary team led by Professor Lisa Collins (Leeds) and Professor Richard Bennett (Reading). Over the next 4 years we aim to use a multi-disciplinary, integrated systems approach to model and assess the resilience of the UK pig industry historically, currently and in the future – Specifically how it will be affected by intensification, fluctuations in consumer demand, climate change and risks associated with global production and international trade. If you want to learn a bit more about what we will be focussing on, please check the slideshow below, and get in touch: [email protected]. |
